I travelled up to the sunny north this weekend for a packed
few days of riding! I was staying with the Morewood's , who are pretty much my adoptive 2nd family
now! They took me to a great never ending spot near their home. It was an
amazing place to ride, some brilliant rocks that were a tad slippy at times. I haven’t
rode for that long and for that hard for a while - great day!
On the following Sunday I rode in the final Tyketrial competition of the year held at Harden Moor, which was also the last event in the UK of the year. Waking up to find Ice everywhere was not promising, however the venue was In a good condition if a little wet in places and very cold!
The competition was really good, I really enjoyed the sections and there was a good mixture of different moves to do during the day. I made a few sloppy mistakes but was very happy with my riding doing some things I was very pleased with. I ended the day in 3rd place on 43 points, 4 behind 2nd place Dave Kerr.
Thank you to everyone who made it a great weekend! :)

Scott Wilson British 'World Elite' Number 3
17th October
Over the past weekend It was the 7th and Final round of the British Trials held at Shipley Glen In Yorkshire. It was a tough day for me. My riding wasn't up to scratch and I didnt ride anywhere near as well as I should, On a good day I should of been battling for a podium. I did have a bit of bad luck though, snapping tape and pulling a marker out did not help. I finished the day In 5th Position, a disapointing result really. However the battle for 3rd In the overall series was very close. Going into the event I was 4th with 5th place very close to me on points.
Despite my poor on the day result I managed to move up and end the year In 3rd Place In the British Trials cup-World Elite Class, which I am very pleased about, It is a great end to the season.

At the weekend it was the 6th and penultimate round of the
British National Trials cup, held at Hook Woods In Surrey. Hook woods is a
great venue probably one of the best, if not the best in the south.....If it
stays dry that is. This weekend luckily it did!
As is common recently It seems, I broke something before the competition and made a bad start. At least I'm consistent!
During warm up before the comp I stripped my rear hub and I have to say a massive thank you to Barry and Owen Gawthorpe for lending me their spare wheel, Saved the day!
I made a bad start; I 5'd my first 3 sections and went on to 5 2 more times during the first lap.
Five 5's and a lap score of 31 over an 8 section lap is terrible (The max you could have scored was 40). On my second lap however things just changed. It may have been because my first lap was so bad I knew I couldn’t do much worse but everything just went right. I didn’t really make any mistakes, 1 or 2 tiny things, but that was all. I felt good during the entire lap and ended up having No 5's at all and finishing the second lap on 13! This gave me 2nd place in the 'UCI World Elite' category ( highest class).
This is my highest ever position in a 26" National event, so I am very pleased!

Over the weekend I took a trip to the awesome country of Sweden. I was invited to ride In a round of the Swedish biketrial championship In Partille and In some shows at a massive retail park/shopping complex near Gothenburg.
The shows went really well, we had some great crowds all day and the weather was perfect. The organisers and local businesses were very pleased with the day. Thanks to Peter for the invite! www.peterbackgren.com
We woke up on competition day to a very miserable looking morning and the weather didn’t improve all day. The wet conditions made the competition very tough. Mud everywhere and slippery Ice like rocks made all the sections really hard and a few a bit scary in places!
I had a very poor first lap. I was trying to ride everything too clean and precise and I was trying every move the hard way, making my riding very smooth but inefficient in these conditions. On the second lap (when the heavens opened again) I made a good start and became a lot more relaxed. I decided not to worry about how my riding looked or whether I should take the hard or safer routes and just rode how I felt at each section. This paid off very well, on my second lap there were some sections that only me and the winner got through and my second lap score was the tied 3rd best, 3 behind 2nd. As my first was not great I finished the day In 5th place, 3 points behind 4th place finisher Aurelien Narses from France.
I have uploaded some pictures of the competition to the - Swedish Championship Gallery
Big thank you to Roger and Peter Backgren and to everyone else who made It a very enjoyable trip!
( - Aside from my car breaking down when leaving Stansted Airport and having to sign up to the AA at Midnight to get it repaired - Donations to fix the hole in my wallet this created are very welcome!)
